Veterinary Dentistry and Oral Surgery

The Dental Department of the Istituto Veterinario di Novara offers diagnostic procedures and treatment of conditions affecting the oral cavity and maxillofacial structures (i.e. teeth, gingiva, oral mucosa, palate, tongue, salivary glands, mandibular and maxillary bones, temporomandibular joints, and head neuromuscular structures) of dogs and cats.

Our aim: prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the oral cavity and maxillofacial structures using advanced instruments, materials and techniques, following the standards set by the European and the American College of Veterinary Dentistry. We closely collaborate with the Anesthesiology and Analgesia Department of the Istituto Veterinario di Novara, with the purpose to minimize stress and pain to our patients before, during and after any dental and surgical procedure.

Oral and dental diseases are very common in dogs and cats. Many oral diseases may cause severe local and systemic complications if they are not diagnosed early and treated appropriately. Unfortunately, however, owners are often unaware of the presence of oral and dental problem affecting their pet, because dogs and cats are very good at hiding oral pain. The animals may continue to eat and act normally even when severe problems are present. It is therefore very important to regularly bring your pet to your veterinarian for a full oral examination, even if clinical signs and symptoms are not evident.

The Dental Department of the Istituto Veterinario di Novara is run by a veterinarian Diplomate of both the European and the American College of Veterinary Dentistry.

The following diagnostic and surgical procedures are offered:
